Upon opening a food package, an unpleasant odor may be released. This is not due to the poor quality or improper storage of food, but to the normal presence of volatile organic compounds. However, this phenomenon, which is completely natural, is a critical issue because it could somehow disturb the sensory experience of the consumer.
