COOOL® FreeToGo is the innovative refrigerated road transport system that harnesses the refrigeration power of CO2 R-744 for last-mile transport. But not only that, it is perfectly suited to all the needs of refrigerated road transport.
COOOL® FreeToGo is dedicated to vehicles up to 3.5 tons, travels at reduced energy cost, and provides a compressor-less refrigeration circuit that is independent of traction and thus guaranteed even when the engine is off, thus avoiding additional fuel consumption and noise and pollutant emissions.
How COOOL® FreeToGo Works
This solution allows transport vehicles to be converted into efficient refrigeration systems that can bring down temperatures 10 times faster, compared to conventional vehicles, and maintain them consistently during travel, and is capable of operating for fresh or frozen food.
During operation, air cooled by the heat exchanger is fed into the charge compartment allowing it to be thermoregulated, while the natural refrigerant gas, having arrived at the end of the cycle, is directed outside the vehicle body.
For the user, moreover, operation of COOOL® FreeToGo is very simple, intuitive, as in a traditional refrigeration vehicle: it can be programmed, activated, adjusted, and turned off from a convenient in-cab operator panel. Compatible with Industry 4.0 for remote monitoring of parameters and refrigeration unit, it ensures considerable economic benefits.

How to recharge the system
The charging system is also extremely smooth, safe, and almost totally automatic. At the customer’s preplanned site, they are installed:
- A storage tank with flexible capacity, to be defined according to customer needs and the number of vans to be supplied
- A carbon dioxide dispenser with automatic shut-off on completion of filling
The only manual intervention required is the attachment of the refill hoses, which are equipped with quick couplers.

The refrigerant gas used is R744: an environmentally friendly alternative to fluorinated gases and, thanks to technologies developed by the companies belonging to the group, produced by SIAD through a virtuous cycle of biogas upgrading, with a very low environmental impact.
